Clone your brand voices

Cloning a voice means you can generate voiceovers from any script without recording a line again. Set it up once and everyone in your workspace can use it, so every video sounds like the same person.

To get started you'll need either a microphone to record with, or a clean audio or video sample of the voice that's at least 10 seconds long. You'll also need the right to use that voice.

If you'd rather not clone anything, you can pick a ready-made voice from the ElevenLabs library instead. That happens while you're choosing a voice in Script View, not here in the Brand Hub.

Open your voices

Click Brand in the left sidebar to open the Brand Hub. From the overview, open Voices, either under Brand Assets in the left menu or via the Voices card. Then click New voice.

Record or upload a sample

The dialog opens with three tips worth following, because the quality of your sample decides how good the clone sounds:

  • Avoid noisy environments. Background sound interferes with the quality of the result.
  • Check your microphone quality. An external mic or a headphone mic usually captures better audio than a built-in one.
  • Use consistent equipment. Switching recording gear between samples changes the result.

To record now, pick your microphone from the device selector, then click the mic to start talking. The first time you record, your browser will ask for permission to use your microphone. You need to allow it, otherwise the recording won't pick up any audio.

Your sample needs to be at least 10 seconds long, and anything from 20 seconds up gives noticeably better results.

How you speak is how your clone will speak. A calm, slow delivery gives you a calm, slow voice, and an energetic or shouted one comes back exactly the same way. Read your sample the way you want your videos to sound.

To use files you already have, switch from Record to Upload, then click to browse or drag them straight in. You can select several files at once and each shows its own upload progress. Click the X on a file to cancel it, or upload again to add more.

You can use audio (MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG) or video (MP4, WebM, MOV), and Solid pulls the audio out of video files for you. Video needs to stay under 500 MB, and the same 10 second minimum applies.

Tick Remove background noise from audio recordings only if your sample is noisy. If the recording is already clean, leave it switched off, since the cleanup can introduce artifacts.

Click Next when you're happy with it.

Add the voice details

  1. Give the voice a name.
  2. Set the language you recorded in.
  3. Set the gender and age. These aren't only labels: anyone browsing voices can filter by gender, age and language, so accurate values help your team find the right fit.
  4. Check the description. Solid analyzes your sample and writes one for you, and you can edit it. It's shown when browsing voices, so keep it short and useful.

Confirm you have the rights

Before you can clone, you need to tick the confirmation box:

I hereby confirm that I have all necessary rights or consents to upload and clone these voice samples and that I will not use the platform-generated content for any illegal, fraudulent, or harmful purpose. I reaffirm my obligation to abide by Solid Labs's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Only clone your own voice, or one whose owner has given you clear permission first. Cloning someone's voice without their consent can create real legal trouble for you and for your organization.

Your voice samples are not used to train AI models. Voice generation runs on ElevenLabs, and Solid has model training switched off. Voices you clone stay private to your workspace, so only people in your organization can find or use them.

Solid Labs's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy apply throughout, and ElevenLabs' Privacy Policy covers how samples are handled on their side.

Clone the voice

Click Clone voice. Solid processes your samples, and when it's finished the dialog confirms your voice was cloned successfully and is ready in your workspace.

From there, click Clone another to make a second voice, or close the dialog with the X in the top right to go back to your voices.

If you want to change something first, click Back to return to your samples. To leave without cloning at all, click the X.

Manage your voices

Your voices overview lists the voices you've cloned, each with its name, description, language, and a label showing it's available to your workspace.

  • Favorite a voice so you can reach it faster when you're generating voice clips from a script.
  • Delete a voice from the three dot menu on that voice.
