Conversion rate calculator

Conversions divided by clicks. Pick the one you want and fill in the other two. Built for paid traffic — Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Google — where the click is the handoff from the ad to the page, and the conversion rate is what the page does with it.

What should these numbers be?

Not what a benchmark table says — those blend other businesses’ margins and customer values, which is why no two agree. Enter your own and every metric gets the range your economics can actually afford.

Revenue from a first conversion — order value for a shop, deal value × close rate for lead gen.

What is left of that revenue after cost of goods, shipping and fees.

Lifetime revenue ÷ the first order. Leave empty to judge on first orders alone.

How conversion rate is calculated

Conversion rate is the share of clicks that turn into the action you count. Divide the conversions by the clicks and multiply by a hundred: 150 conversions from 5,000 clicks is a 3.00% conversion rate.

The same relationship answers the other two questions. Conversions a click count will produce is clicks × CVR ÷ 100, so 5,000 clicks at 3.00% convert 150 times. Clicks a conversion target needs is conversions ÷ CVR × 100. Switch what you are solving for at the top of the calculator and it rearranges itself.

What conversion rate does and does not tell you

CVR judges the handoff from the ad to the page, but it cannot separate the two: a weak offer shown to warm traffic out-converts a strong page shown to a cold audience. When the number moves, the page is one suspect and the traffic mix is the other.

It also says nothing about what a conversion is worth. A high rate of small orders can lose to a low rate of large ones, which is why CVR is worth reading next to CPA and ROAS rather than alone. The number it must beat is not a benchmark — it is the floor your own margins set, and the targets below derive it from your figures.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you calculate conversion rate?

Divide the number of conversions by the number of clicks, then multiply by 100. 150 conversions from 5,000 clicks is (150 ÷ 5,000) × 100 = a 3.00% conversion rate. Count both over the same period and from the same attribution source, or the ratio mixes two realities.

What is the conversion rate formula?

CVR = conversions ÷ clicks × 100. Rearranged, conversions = clicks × CVR ÷ 100, and clicks = conversions ÷ CVR × 100. The calculator shows whichever of the three you asked for, with your own numbers substituted into the line under the answer.

How do I work out how many conversions a click count will produce?

Multiply the clicks by the conversion rate and divide by 100. 5,000 clicks at a 3.00% conversion rate produce 150 conversions. Set the calculator to solve for conversions and it does this for you.

Is conversion rate the same as CTR?

No. CTR is clicks divided by impressions — how often the ad earns a click. Conversion rate is conversions divided by clicks — how often the click becomes the action. The two chain together: conversions = impressions × CTR × CVR, which is why a campaign can fix its CVR and still miss, if the CTR side of the chain is what is broken.

What is a good conversion rate?

There is no single number, because the rate that matters is set by your arithmetic, not an industry average: your cost per click divided by what a conversion may cost. A 1% CVR is healthy at a $0.50 CPC with a $100 margin, and fatal at a $3 CPC with a $20 one. Published averages also mix actions that convert at wildly different rates — a purchase and a newsletter signup are both called conversions. Enter your margin and conversion value under the funnel below, and the page derives the floor your CPC demands.

Does conversion rate differ between Meta, TikTok and Google?

The arithmetic is identical everywhere; the rates are not, because the intent behind the click differs. A search click arrives already looking for the thing, a social click was interrupted mid-scroll. Compare your rate within a platform and placement first, and treat any cross-platform benchmark as a rough sketch.

Why does conversion rate drop when I scale spend?

Usually because the audience widened before the page changed. The first budget reaches the warmest, cheapest-to-convert audience; scaling reaches colder people who still click but buy less. Read CVR next to CPA when it happens — if both moved together, the cause is the traffic, not the landing page.

Is it free, and do you keep what I type?

Free, with nothing to sign up for and no account. The arithmetic runs in your browser — typing a number makes no server request, and there is no database of what visitors enter. One thing worth knowing: your numbers are written into the page URL so you can bookmark or share them, which means they also travel inside any link you send.
